About

From North By Northwest (1959)
Visual Film Diary is a platform for movie lovers to peruse stills from films, read up on cinematic history, and keep up with my almost-daily film viewing. Every time I watch a film, I will be posting some of the most breathtaking stills from the film, along with some of my thoughts. Most of the films I focus on are classics, but you can expect a mix of contemporary and classic films of all genres.
For a directory of all of the new-to-me films I've watched this year, check out the "Film Archive" page. To check out our blog posts, click on the "Blog" tab.

Who am I?

I'm Izzy Labbe, a 19-year-old film and cultural history student at Wellesley College. I love classic films, Hollywood, and history, and I started VFD as a platform to engage with film cinematography and history. My other interests include old books, poetry, humor, vintage clothing, and fawning over people who have been dead for a long-ass time.
